Mission

 

The library's purpose is to provide opportunities for information, education, culture, and recreation through books, computers, videos, and other materials and library services to the people of Clarksdale and Coahoma County. We are proud to be in our second century of service!

Services

Archaeology artifacts and book collection, digital magazines, ebooks, audio books, CDs (music), children's department, PCs, Chromebook (laptop) checkout (in-library), i-pad mini and Android tablet checkout (in-library), computer and gadget assistance, public scanner, copy machine, exhibit cases, fax machine, genealogy collection, high school annuals, information desk, interlibrary loan, large print books, Talking Book services (for visually impaired), magazines, meeting room, microfilm, Mississippi and local history room, Mississippi Code, newspapers, paperback collection, programs, reader's advisory service,  story-time, summer reading program, telephone books, telephone reference service, videos.

Information

Do you need answers to reference questions? Come in to the library or call for information. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff will gladly find the information you need.

Meeting Room

The meeting room is available free of charge for public gatherings of a civic, informational or educational nature. Civic clubs holding regular meetings at the library may schedule the meetings a year at a time. Check at the circulation desk for further information.

Office Services: computing, copying, scanning, faxing...

The library offers free public access to computers for word processing and web surfing. Printing, copying and fax services are available for a nominal fee.

Computer use is timed and on a first-come basis. We can make reservations if all computers are full, and we offer a quick-print station with a 15-minute time limit.

Printouts from costs $0.25 a page for black and white and $.75 for color. Copy fees are the same. Prints from the microfilm reader/printer costs $0.25 per page. Faxes to U.S. numbers are $2.00 for the first page, and $0.50 for subsequent pages to the same number. Scanning is free but is subject to time limits.

Children's Services

Children in Coahoma County are the lucky ones! They have a friendly area dedicated to them at the library. There is a Summer Reading Program each summer for students in grades 1-6, and for preschoolers, there is a summer story time. We have two early literacy computers and one literacy station for elementary students. We also have four computers reserved for our teens, as well as a Young Adult section.
