ABOUT US

The Community Book Talks Lecture Series is a partnership between the Carnegie Public Library in Clarksdale, MS, and the Coahoma County Higher Education Center. We receive primary support from the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, as well as additional sponsorship from the Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and generous local donors.

Since the program began in 2012, the series has hosted over 45 dynamic and entertaining speakers, including Nikki Giovanni, Caroline Kennedy, James Meredith, Natasha Trethewey, Curtis Wilkie, Lois Lowry, Juan Williams, Rick Bragg, Tom Franklin, Sharon Draper, Ace Atkins, Richard Grant, Michael Farris Smith and others.

The 2019 season kicks off January 24 with Michael Farris Smith, author of Fighter, and continues to the week of April 15 with Wright Thompson. Check back for Fall dates.
